Unusual Job - ‘Paintball bullet tester’

Getting shot by paint bullets every day for a living might not sound like everyone’s idea of a perfect career, but that hasn’t stopped some 10,000 people applying for a job as a paintball 'bullet tester'.

According to UKPaintball, who posted the vacancy, people from all over the world have applied for the position, including countries as far reaching as America, Canada and India.
The response to the role, which pays £40,000 a year pro rata has surprised UKPaintball owner, Justin Toohig, who said: "This incredible response is the last thing we expected when we posted the advert.

"We couldn't have predicted that so many people in the UK and beyond would want to get shot for a living."

The advert on the company's website tells interested candidates that if they have a "relatively high pain threshold, this might just be the opportunity for you!"

"The job will essentially involve being shot at with every new batch of paint bullets to ensure that all health and safety checks are in place before we can use them on the general public and paying customers.

"Whilst the checks will of course be carried out by trained professionals with a wealth of experience, the role may pose a small risk of pain, discomfort and some bruising."

And according to Toohig applicants have given varied reasons for why they should be hired, including one who said he would make a good target because he was fat.

Another said they were an "ex-magician's assistant who was once almost shot for real in an illusion that went horribly wrong".

Toohig admitted: "It's going to be a real struggle attempting to whittle down the thousands of applicants to just one."
