The Benefits of Temping

Temping has always been a positive route into full employment.  In our own experience hundreds of our temporary team are offered permanent jobs every year having impressed potential employers and proved themselves in the workplace.

With skills in short supply employers are increasingly recruiting on the basis of attitude and aptitude.

The temp to perm route is a good option for individuals to have a ‘work trial’.  Skills can be taught and temping can offer a great opportunity to learn new skills and different systems and ways of working.

The good news is that there has never been a better time to be a temporary worker, many people choose this option as it enables them to work around other commitments in their lives. One of the many common misconceptions about temp working is that they have no rights.  Temps these days receive holiday pay, pension and all the benefits a permanent person would enjoy after 12 weeks, thanks to the Agency Workers Regulations.

People choose temping and contract work for a variety of reasons. They may be semi-retired with considerable experience and skills which are invaluable to employers and can be utilised on a short to medium term basis.  Flexibility is the key for both temps and the business where they work.  We often find that people who are setting up their own business or caring for someone at home enjoy the flexibility of temping and the income it affords them.

The experience through temping not only enhances an individual’s CV but gives them valuable insight into different career paths and working environments and can significantly improve confidence and ability to understand which route to take to achieve a fulfilling, enjoyable career for the future. They may also be offered ‘just the job’ along the way – a real measure of success all round!

Temping offers an extended network of contacts with opportunities frequently ongoing for prospective candidates. In fact over the years a number of our temporary team are now in senior positions and hiring temps from us years later!
