Social Media is a 'must have for business'

Most people would agree by now that social media is something we can't afford to ignore. Our customers are all online and so are our competitors. We all use the web to search for information. Facebook has over a billion active users and Twitter now has over 500 million users and LinkedIn is now seen as a 'must have' for businesses and individuals to raise their profile. Social media not only builds brand recognition, but it can also turn existing customers into brand ambassadors. It starts the conversation and allows your business to develop a personality and creates a direct and personal relationship with customers. In other words it can humanise a brand.

Survey data from the Internet Advertising Bureau UK reveals that 90% of customers would recommend a brand based on a positive social media interaction. The great thing is that it enables every business, from the one man band up, to access an extremely cost effective way of engaging new clients and marketing their products and services to the wider world.

There is plenty of advice and support available locally and on the web to get going, but most of us are learning as we go about our business and certainly in our case still have some way to go!  Our decision recently was to ‘grow our own social media expert’ by recruiting an apprentice focusing on this particular area of business.
Hewett Recruitment have introduced a new initiative in association with Kidderminster College who have launched the New Social Media Apprenticeships Scheme from September 2013. The response from businesses across Worcestershire has been very positive for more information contact Business and Training at Kidderminster College on 01562 826501 or contact
