Manufacturing Showing Signs of Growth

What a delight to hear that the manufacturing sector has returned to growth in January, with overall activity at its highest level for eight months.  Demand from Brazil, China, the Middle East and the US also rose. Exporting to America looks a promising prospect for UK manufacturing going forward as the latest growth and employment figures across the pond indicate buoyancy.

David Noble, chief exec at the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) commented.  “The UK manufacturing sector has sprung to life in the first few months of 2012 to defy the economic gloom, but it is too early to say whether this trend is sustainable.”
We know that there are numerous factors that can influence this growth, but this ‘good news story’ certainly reinforces feedback from our clients in the manufacturing and technology sectors across Herefordshire & Worcestershire. We have been hearing significantly more plans for growth and development, certainly outweighing any talk of contraction and stagnation. Many employers are frustrated by all the ‘doom and gloom‘ in the media, which does nothing for business confidence in UK plc.

Acknowledging these frustrations, I felt there was a need to showcase all the great products, innovation and success stories across our region, by creating an event exclusively for the manufacturing and technology businesses to promote their expertise and demonstrate the rich diversity  of business across H&W. Hewett Recruitment have joined forces with the Chamber of Commerce to create ‘Manufactured in the Midlands’ taking place on 21st June, invitations to exhibit have been sent to selected businesses, and there has been keen interest and support to participate in this exclusive event, which is the first of its kind to take place in the county.
