Louises Column - The Warriors Community Foundation

Many of us in business engage and support local causes, to help raise awareness and generate much needed funds for charities and local groups to continue their good work. I'd like to highlight and encourage you to get involved with the great work going on at an exceptional and award winning foundation, The Warriors Community Foundation where I've been a trustee for number of years. This Foundation sits at the heart of Worcester Warriors and is one of the most important aspects of their work.

The Foundation was set up seven years ago and exists to help build a legacy for sport, education, health and social cohesion across our community. It is deemed as one of the best sporting foundations, making a real impact on the lives of people in our community.

Worcester Warriors is an inclusive rugby club and specialises in creating adapted games for people with mental health issues, physical disabilities and people who have become isolated within their community. Through their #LeadtheWay Camapign they have created an environment at the club and on matchdays that caters for people who find loud and busy places difficult to access.

The Foundation has seven specialist members of staff who have expertise in working with people from all sectors of society such as:
• Young people disengaged from mainstream education or those who have suffered trauma and have learning issues
• People who have disabilities such as Dementia, visual impairment, Diabetes, Anxiety disorders and those who are isolated and lonely
• Outreach programmes for women and girls who find accessing sport difficult
• Women Only Programmes

The Foundation also has an extensive education programme, working in schools across the County every day of every week adding value to the curriculum. The Foundation teaching staff deliver literacy and numeracy programmes as well as cultural and sports education alongside sport.
The Warriors Community Foundation really is at the centre of the Club and I know how hard they all work to make a real difference to each individual they work with through their many initiatives.

To find out more about the work of the Foundation, I urge you to visit the website: www.warriors.co.uk/community/community-foundation/ or give Carol Hart a call on 01905 459324, carol.hart@warriors.co.uk Carol is Head of the Foundation.
