Louises Column - Health & Wellbeing Tops the Agenda

Healthier people tend to be happier, they also tend to positively contribute to society and the economy. Improved employee health and well-being has been shown repeatedly to improve profitability and productivity of businesses. With most adults spending a substantial proportion of their lives in the workplace, employers can play an important role in improving health and well-being. This may include raising awareness of particular health issues and supporting employees to make healthier lifestyle choices. Worcestershire Works Well supports businesses in this aim and it is free to sign up!

At Hewett Recruitment, they are proud to have achieved their Level 1 accreditation from Worcestershire Works Well. Laura Hewett, Hewett’s Commercial Director and Worcestershire Works Well Board Member said, “Happy, healthy people are significantly more productive.
We have found this to be the case within our own business and we are now proactively spreading the message to other businesses across Worcestershire. Our team enjoys getting involved with the initiative through giving blood, healthy eating, workplace massages and getting active, with many of our employees taking part in competitive sporting activities as a team – which is great for comradery!”

Joanne Watkins, Hewett’s Operations Manager has recently been awarded with her Level 2 in Understanding Health Improvement, training which was offered to businesses as part of the Worcestershire Works Well scheme. Jo said, “I thoroughly enjoyed the training and have taken away practical ideas I can implement within the business to move us towards our Level 2 accreditation”.
