Louise's Column - The Demand for Contractors

The demand for a flexible workforce in the UK continues to increase and for many is being embraced and has become engrained as the ‘new norm’.

For businesses, contractors offer a flexible resource when and where it is needed. Hewett Recruitment have provided exceptional people to local businesses for 37 years and 2017 sees the expansion of their dedicated specialist contract division.

Louise Hewett explained – “Our clients can fill those increasing skills gaps without being saddled with the administrative burden.  We are offering a hassle free service that minimises risk and ensures compliance.”

Hewett’s have appointed Gareth Johnstone as Principal Contract Consultant who will be responsible for spearheading this extended service both locally and nationally. Gareth commented, “It’s clear to me that Louise and her team have forged strong relationships with both clients and candidates within their chosen sectors and I intend to emulate and extend these relationships both locally and nationally.  I have previously worked for an international recruitment company delivering contract manpower in the Middle East and I’m looking forward to fully utilising my skills and expertise as Principal of contracting for Hewett Recruitment.”

He continues….. “Having been a contractor myself in the security sector in the past I have a strong understanding of the personal and professional challenges faced and know that often the lack of an “employed” feel can cause some dismay. This is why I am passionate about ensuring that the highest levels of service is provided to our contractors by developing engaged, meaningful relationships whereby they are represented properly and fairly and that their needs are met with the same level of importance as our clients. I see this all round holistic approach as being key to improving both retention and productivity amongst the workforce. In return Hewett’s clients will be comfortable in the knowledge that they are receiving some of the very best, motivated contracting talent available on the market.”  For further details contact
