On 1st October 2013, a number of changes to employment law came into force.
National Minimum Wage
The annual increase in national minimum wage has now taken place and the rates are now as follows:
1.    Standard adult rate for workers aged 21 or over has increased from £6.19 to £6.31
2.    The Development rate for workers aged between 18 and 20 has increased from £4.98 to £5.03
3.    The Young Workers rate for workers under 18 but above the compulsory school age has increased from £3.68 to £3.72
4.    The rate for Apprenticeships for apprentices under 18 years of aged or those aged 19 and over but in the first year of their apprenticeship has increased from £2.65 to £2.68
5.    The Accommodation offset limit has increased from £4.82 to £4.91
Directors’ remuneration

The Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act 2013 has introduced a new voting and disclosure regime for the remuneration of directors of quoted Companies.
A Company will be required to produce a directors’ remuneration report which comprises of an Annual Statement, an Annual Report on Remuneration and a Directors’ Remuneration policy.
Employment Tribunal Fees Remission Scheme

On 07th October 2013, a new single fee remission scheme was introduced for all courts and tribunals where an applicant’s disposable capital and gross monthly income will be assessed to determine their eligibility for a fee remission when bringing a claim in the employment tribunal against their employer.
