Hewett’s Legal Corner- January 2014 #1

Welcome to the first edition of Hewett’s Legal Corner. A new fortnightly e-news providing you with some of the latest employment law updates from legal professionals across the region. This month’s is provided by Eversheds’.

Introduction from Audrey Williams, Head of Discrimination Law
Welcome to the latest edition of our Discrimination Law Review. Our focus, in this edition, is on recent significant cases.

As ever, disability discrimination features heavily in our round-up: being one of the most complex areas of equality law it is unsurprising that it results in so many appeal cases.

We also feature cases on age and sexual orientation, as well as the latest news on two intriguing cases concerning the rights of intended parents through surrogacy to maternity leave. Finally we have our legislation tracker, to help you keep an eye on the key changes and dates, and our usual look at important cases pending on appeal and to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
