Healthy employees are more motivated

Employees who are healthy and motivated are more likely to be productive at work. Recent research published by the Journal of Applied Psychology pointed out that staff members who are fit and active are likely to work at over 90% productivity, while a person who is demotivated will rarely reach levels greater than 50%. Work related stress and depression is costly to the individual and the organisation they work for.  Investing in employees’ health and welfare makes sense and is good for business.

Worcestershire has a free service that offers a ‘health check for business’ in the form of the ‘Worcestershire Works Well Toolkit’ launched in October last year.  Amanda Wright, Business Advisor for Health and Wellbeing at Community First explained  “So far over 30 local workplaces have signed up to the Worcestershire Works Well Toolkit, 7 of whom have already achieved the first level of accreditation and are now working towards level 2. What they gain from signing up is a straightforward framework to help them support their staff, guidance from a dedicated Worcestershire Works Well representative and recognition for their achievements.

Several of the companies involved have fed back to us that it has really helped them to make health and wellbeing an integral part of their culture with significant benefits all round.”

In the UK , 175 million working days are lost every year due to illness which is estimated to cost employers over £13 billion and £100 billion over all.  Healthier people tend to be happier and more productive.  Worcestershire Works Well is a free, local service that helps businesses implement simple measures to manage and prevent ill health.......for more information visit:
